Style: maxi-evolution

From our humble prehistoric ancestry, men and women have evolved to the sophisticated and politically correct beings that we are. Our capacity to rationalizes on a pc level is the rabbit in the race against the turtle, genetic evolution.

(Bill Blass)

From our hunting and gathering days; men and women have evolved to see differently. Women; tend to gravitate to color. Presumably from our need to find colored berries and root vegetable. As women, what we notice first about a style, decoration, or look is the color. We tend to like neutral colors with a pop of color. Like a nude face, with a bold lip.

In contrast, men from their days of hunting, see movement before color. In order to hunt efficiently, men needed to be able to instinctually  react to muscle twitches. Many sports psychologist believe that the male ability to see movement in action is the reason why male professional sports play at a higher level.

(Calvin Klein Spring 2012)

When it comes to fashion, men are attracted to how fabric hangs and moves on the body. Think: Oscar De La Renta, Jason Wu, Karl Lagerfeld, Calvin Klein. Male designers, design with movement in mind. Clothing that flows effortlessly on and around the body is elegant, sexy, and beautiful.

(Mulberry Spring 2012)

Mix in some flow to your wardrobe with flowing skirts, blouses and dresses. The maxi look is dominating summer fashion. To keep the maxi look fresh, stick to rental pastel colors like nude, and mint; or bold on trend prints.

Style: Spring Fashion Flings

I love winter and almost everything about it. What I dislike most about winter is the long nights void of sun. February, is a lovely month because it is still very much winter. You can ski, you can bundle up, and you can begin to become excited about garden parties and fresh wardrobs. The Spring collections for 2012, are very much in line with falls biggest trends.  Loud, and vibrant prints are back in bloom for, as is the court of the animal kingdom. New to spring fashion, is color, lots of soft pastel color and romantic Gatsby era frocks. Spring 2012 is a wonderlust of prints, colors, patterns, textures, and shapes.

Florals:
The trend is bolder, and much more colorful this spring. The flowers are more birds of paradise, and less carnations.

(Alexander Wang,  Thakoon, Altuzarra)

Animals/Africa:

The animals in court are more flamingos and electric cobras than elephants and garter snakes. The look  is pattern and texture driven. With Bold accents.

(Commuun, Giles, L.A.M.B)

Sports Wear:
The Sportswear fetish has been revamped and understated with sorbet colors, color blocking, and fitted silhouettes.

(Bill Blass, Rag & Bone, Vera Wang)

Gatsby (1920's) elegance.

In a whimsical and princess fariy tale fashion the fringe and pillowy designs inspried by the 1920's will have you time traveling and relishing in joy as you dress up for an evening alone or out on the town.

( Lam, The Row, Oscar De La Renta)

Color Blocking:

The colors this spring are more coral, and tangorine. The Shape is less rigid and more flexible allowing the trend to transpire into more sportswear, and era driven looks.

(Ohne Titel, Victoria Beckham, J. Mendel)

Pastels:
Easter egg colors, are huge, and everywhere. Mint nails, lavender hair, robins egg blue clutches. The colors are soft, and complementary to the other spring trends. Especially with the 1920's era- elegance.

(Marc Jacobs, Phillip Lim, Wes Gordon)

Spring 2012, in Short is a cauldron of textures. Infused with in willowy florals, safari animals, sporty men's  wear, colors, and eras. I personally am loving the no fear fashions!

Dreams Of Oscar De La Renta

I like Most girls have simple dreams of Luxury. I eagerly await the day I'll own, my very own Oscar de la Renta. A designer so praised for his ability to accentuate the natural curves of any woman.

My dreams are simple. They consist of mostly fabric and decedent costumes. I dream of soft leather sparkling snake skin shoes, and hair ornaments to fit my mood.

My dreams are achievable; that I know, as thanks to Veda Lux Boutique, I have achieved my dream of owning a vintage Oscar.

I may not have "the mucho denaro," to through down on a new gown. Used is fine by me.
The beautiful thing about classy thrift shops is the owners passion for glamour and ability to find true gems. My Oscar is my prized vintage find.

Summer Hightower has a unique personal style and a daringness when it comes to fashion. I absolutely am in love with Veda Lux , and what I can find at her Mansion of Thrifty. Treat yourself, and play with your look.  Dress Up.
